What Is The Skills Alliance?

Who we are

The Queensland Fitness, Sport & Recreation Skills Alliance is a not‑for‑profit industry service organisation that supports the workforce development efforts of our industry.

We work across four industry sectors: sport, fitness, outdoor recreation and community recreation.

By workforce development we mean how an industry or organisation attracts workers, retains workers and provides learning and skilling opportunities. In our industry this applies to both employees and volunteers.

Creating workforce development opportunities and strategies is crucial. It allows the industry to have a workforce that is truly responsive to the needs of communities, clients and participants.

Our role

Our role is twofold.

We help industry employers and networks identify and respond collaboratively to their workforce development needs. At the same time, we also offer useful workforce development products and services to help individual employers provide learning opportunities for their workers.

Our role includes:

  • undertaking projects that support workforce development in the industry
  • distributing information on workforce development to industry networks
  • collecting information from industry on issues, needs and trends and reporting this information to both government and the industry
  • supporting and encouraging industry networks to work together so they can identify and create opportunities to skill up their workforces.
